Sorry, forgot one.

Do people in Perth take kindly to facial hair or is it time for shave ?
If so are we talking ZZtop or 0.5 inches of stubble ?

OMG, I can do my best on a few...... All my own opinion of course, a lot of it is relative. AND, I'm not from the UK, I'm half dutch/half Australian.
And, this is from the perspective of a 24yo with no kids, who loves rock music (including blues and roots).....

Where should I not go if I'm trying to avoid getting knifed\shot\mugged\robbed(besides the tax office) ?
I'd go everywhere, but dsome places I wouldn't want to be walking around by myself in the middle of the night... Maddington is one. My husband would say Northbridge.
Thing is, I'm never alone in these kinda places, and usually not in the middle of the night either. And if we do go out to pub, the car would usually be close enough.
For example, tonight I'm meeting friends in a pub in Northbridge, and will be walking back to my car (5 mins) by myself at around 10.30pm or so. I'll be a tiny bit nervous (cos the carpark is at the back of shops, not visible from main street), but I'll be fine.

Where should I go if I want to enjoy a sunset session surrounded by a live band, cheap drinks, a beach setting and hopefuly many scantily clad young women?
I don't think drinks are cheap anywhere (haven't heard of one place being much cheaper than another).
Live band would not normally involve scantily clad young women. You'll find them more in the club type things, like maybe the Dean in Northbridge (and all the other nightclubs) and Harbourside in Freo. But I don't go to these type of places. Actually, some of these types would have live bands, but probably mostly cover bands.

Now, for original live music.....
I don't know about sunsets/beach (oh, the indi bar in Scarborough often have acoustic sets, I think it's part of the Indian Ocean Hotel), but the best with mostly rock bands or blues and roots:
Rosemount Hotel, North Perth
Amplifier Bar, Perth
Mojos Bar , North Fremantle
Swan Basement, North Freo
Claremont Hotel
Paddo, Mt Hawthorn
Leederville Hotel, not many live bands, except upstairs every Friday night is the Funk Club .
Fly By Night Musician's Club, Fremantle
Bakery ARTRAGE in Northbridge for some more arty stuff
Newport Hotel in Freo

What is the best map book to buy ?
I'd say UBD, but apparently the Street Smart one is the sort of official one for Perth. Cheapest place to get it is probably KMart or Big W.

If you were to insure a fu$%ed up old car which company would you use ?

We're with the RAC.

Is KFC as shite as it is in the UK ?

Apparently it is, from what I've heard.
See, Edinoz, second post down: http://www.edinoz.com/

At which beach do the least number of Great Whites hang out ?

No idea, but the chance of you coming across one of those is very, very small. There's a plane that flies up and down the coast in summer. Just stay on the patrolled beaches.

Where is the cheapet place to buy beer ?

Dunno, maybe Woolworths Liquour or BWS(I think woolworths owns them too). There's also things like Liquour barn. As I said, I dunno!

Who are the best acoustic band in Perth at the moment.
Are they even close to these guys : http://www.sonsoftrout.co.za/home/index.php

I don't hear any music on there, so don't know what they play.
What do you mean by acoustic band....? I know what acoustic is, but yeah, do you mean ONLY acoustic, no plugged in instruments..?
Have a look at http://perthmusic.perthnorg.com.au/ They talk about a lot of Perth (rock) bands. Like The Sleepy Jackson, Karnivool, Little Birdy, Bob Evans, Birds of Tokyo, End of Fashion, Eskimo Joe, Gyroscope, Snowman.
Only Bob Evans would do acoustic stuff I think.
If you like Blues and Roots and stuff, Ramble and the Sleepers (ok, they're friends )
But check out their myspace, and look in their friends list and you might discover something. http://www.myspace.com/rambleandthesleepers

Where does one go to meet earthy, laid back folk who enjoy windsurfing, kiting, fishing, sailing, drinking beer and talking shite ?

At gigs, and places in Freo, Cottesloe, Scarborough, Trigg Beach maybe. I don't know, not into watersports! And also, I was lucky enough to still have my friends from high school when we came over here, and met some folks from this forum, so no need to just go out and 'meet people'.

Where is the best place to go snorkelling ?

Ningaloo Reef, but that is about 2000kms north of Perth (but well worth it!!).
Otherwise maybe around Rottnest Island and Pinguin Island(near Rockingham). But I don't think there'd be any coral?

Where is the best place to go for a budget dinner that still tastes ******ing great ?
Well, I'm not a very fussy eater at all, and I like it to be cheap,(as in $8 to $10 per meal!) so you can find me at food courts very often, eating asian food. Like Shanghai foodcourt in Northbridge, the one next to the Freo markets in Fremantle, Spencer Rd Foodcourt in Thornlie (we live near it, it's very simple, but also very cheap).
Apart from that we sometimes go to Han's. It's an Asian chain, has restaurants in Leederville, Northbridge, Innaloo Cinemas and more places.
Pubs have food that is usually good. Like the Brass Monkey in Northbridge.
Retro Betty's in Leederville do great 'gourmet' hamburgers, though they're $9 each or so.
We live in the southeast now, in Thornlie, and Nicholson's in Canning Vale is great. Huge plates, good price.
Argh, this is impossible. All depends on what you eat, what you think is cheap, where you'll be living!!

If I were looking to go to work on Monday with a massive hangover, which pub would I go to on the Sunday?

There's plenty... quite a few will have bands playing till about 10pm, but there will be places open longer than that. All depends on where you'll be living!! Central Perth (subiaco, leederville, mt hawthorn, northbridge, mt lawley, south perth etc) will have plenty of choice. Outer suburbs will have less choice, but usually still at least one pub or tavern per suburb.

ANyway, that's my views/opinions... a lot of people will have totally different opinions.
Might be better to break this thread down though, if you want to have more people respond!
Try starting a thread about watersports in and around Perth.
And do search for fishing threads, I've seen them before.

Good luck getting all your answers!

And if you want to know what we get up to, see weblog below in signature.

There are specials on all the time you just have to look out for them.

Does anyone in Perth sell biltong ?
-There is a butcher in the Luna centre next to Scarborough beach that sells biltong.
- "Red Meat & Chicken", a SA butcher in Marri Road, Duncraig
- and I think there is one is Joondalup as well.

Does anyone you know fly radio controoled aeroplanes ? If so where ?
- we are also curious to an answer to this as hubby as radio controlled gliders which he wants to fly

Howzit Boet.

Apparently Northbridge can be dangerous at night although I've never had/seen any problems there.

Cottesloe Beach Hotel on a Sunday is hot bitch central although cheap drinks do not exist in Perth.

For bakkies, Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton (new one looks great), Ford Courier, Holden Rodeo, Mazda Bravo.

UBD is the best map book.

Budget Insurance. They are on the internet.

KFC is sh1te here too, same as Chicken Treat & Red Rooster. We have Nandos though.

Great Whites are everywhere. Good luck.

Liquorland, BWS or Woolworths for beer.

Plently of Biltong in Perth, some good, some kak. Place in Joondalup sells good stuff.

Nowhere is like Matalan thank f**k.

Don't know, don't sail.

Eskimo Joe?

Any beachside pub, any pub really if you want to talk sh1te.

Pom.

I reckon Point Peron near Rockingham would be great for snorkelling.

Whiteman Park for R/C planes.

Don't know about the Kayak. There is a place in Bassendean that sells Kayaks.

Don't fish.

4litre having the same economy as a 1litre? In bizarro land maybe.

There are some great Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese places in Northbridge where you can get a nice feed for under $10.

Cottesloe Beach Hotel.

Enjoy Boet.
