Getting a landline into a rental
We apparently have a land line already at our rental when we move in however its not connected, whats the story with land lines in Aus? Is there only telstra that supplies land lines or are there others we could choose? Who's the best / cheapest and are you tied in with contracts etc. Any info would be appreciated.

We went to the Telstra shop in the Westfield and had it connected within a couple of days - $49 if there is a line in place. Speak to Peter about it when you arrive. We have since switched to AAPT as we have ordered broadband as well.
Whoever you go with, Telstra do the work as they own the lines

Yep - same here. Walked into Telstra shop. Gave a couple of details and they told us what the phone number was. Bought a $20 handset, got home 2 hours later and plugged it in......and it was already connected!
