Default Perth or Brisbane?

Hi,

I’m a mechanical engineer working in the field of electro-mechanical installations and I’m planning to move to Australia in two months as a PR (175). I really need your advice regarding the job market in Brisbane, is it more promising than in Perth?. Most probably, I'll be moving in before being able to secure a job due to the limited time I have and I'd certainly like to move to where there are more possibilities for landing an engineering job in a short period. What do you think? Perth or Brisbane?
(note: I’m already eliminating Melbourne and Sydney from my list as from what I learned the job market is already saturated over there)

I'm really like confused which to choose, east or west, depending on which job market is more promising and hence it won't take long before I can land a job after arrival. Any feedback from your side will definitely help.

In case the answer is Brisbane, is it a must that I become a Certified Professional Engineer Queensland (CPEQ) in order to be hired as an engineer or it is alright as long as I’ll be reporting or supervised by one. In other words, will I be able to get a job without being a CPEQ?

Please advise me as soon as you can as I need to decide shortly as I need to book my tickets and temporary accommodation shortly.

Waiting for your feedback.

Thanks,

You don't need to be RPEQ to get a job or keep a job.

Thanks eddie. Could you please advise me regarding the engineering job market in Perth? Is it promising? I really don't know where to make a good start. I was just going through some threads regarding rentals; it seems that landlords are requesting a copy of job contract. So, my top priority will be landing a job as soon as I arrive in order to have an income and be able to rent a house. Any idea?

Engineers are usually in high demand in WA, but I'm afraid that I know nothing about mechanical engineering. Hopefully one of the Perth engineers will be along to help you out. Have you looked at the usual websites, such as www.seek.com.au or www.mycareer.com.au - there's a few engineering jobs on there. Also do a search on BE for engineering agencies, someone posted a few links a couple of months ago - possibly Amazulu?

Those who work in theatres are not nurses, they are surgical handmaidens

I’ve been searching both sites for quite a while. Brisbane looks more promising for me but I’m just worried about that CPEQ issue. I found the following link in one of the other forums and people were divided; some are saying there is no real problem as in large companies your direct manager will be definitely a CPEQ; and some are saying that it will be a big issue as most of the employers will ask for it and hence will be a very big restriction.

http://www.engineersaustralia.org.au...iteName=ieaust

Any advice on this issue will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Perth is the No.1 place for engineering in Australia. Brisbane is a close 2nd though. Salaries reflect this.
