Re: Perth - Adelaide - Brisbane ????
Id have to echo Zulu's comments and say I found Brisbane to be bit of a dump too, all I can think is that maybe if I had seen it before Perth rather than after I might of felt it was really good and opted to go there instead.
But if you come to Perth first and then go to Brisbane at a later date its no comparison, I found the city to be pretty ugly and uninteresting from a visual perspective, the city seemed dated and generally quite dirty, the traffic getting in and out was an issue, the quality of restaurants and shops etc seemed poor in comparison, but probably worst of all for me was how far the city was from the coastline, I knew it wasnt as well positioned as Perth but didnt expect it to be un-commutable from the decent beaches on the Sunshine coast (which is somewhere I did like a lot). On one of my trips to Brisbane I also found the weather to be pretty uncomfortable, the humidity was intense and wore you down. It wasnt pleasant being outside, which was one of the reasons I came here! Forgot to say, havent been to Adelaide, pretty much everyone I know that has been there or lived there, has said its ok for a long weekend but wouldnt want to live there. A bit like Tassie, in that you could retire there (but have better weather I guess) and have a good standard of living for the price. So im off there at the end of the week to check it out (to see some Rugby and see how the Barossa stacks up against Margaret River - not to retire too (that will be Port Douglas)):) |

Adelaide for me ;) ...it's my 'Aussie hometown". Recently been to Brisbane as I have a few times before...it's okay but not for me. Loved the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast :D ...but I found it very humid.
Perth, it's okay I guess...but don't like it as much as Adelaide :) The Barossa is great compared to Margaret River...my OH is from Perth and even he likes Adelaide, especially the Barossa ;) |
