Well, I for one feel Perth is shite. The excellent friends, jobs, house, scenery, slower paced life and general sense of contentment felt by my family are really starting to get on my nerves.

I know what you mean. The low levels of congestion, drizzle, angry people etc continually bring me down. I so wish Perth was more like Blackpool with the sun:rolleyes:

Hey guys and girls, I am just having a little fun, try not to take me too seriously.
Yes I have been to Perth and as a visitor I really like it. Loved Fremantle and the beaches too. I wouldn't want to live somewhere so isolated though. I realize some people are really happy in Perth and good for them. Moving abroad is horses for courses, of course! |
Re: Perth = Hell on Earth
Have thay built that pub yet in Carramar ??
seems a good few people reeled in hook line and sinker A good old British night out is the tonic to cure all Ales please excuse the pun Ps Perth is Gods Country |

Re: Perth = Hell on Earth
In addition to what PP said (brilliant post :D), since we arrived six months ago we've been to so many concerts and exhibitions in this totally uncultural/uncultured city that we are fair worn out. In fact, I think I must go and have a little lie-down right now to recover from the weekend.

Yes, you are so right.
Too hot, too isolated and far too backward. Keep it like that and stay away please. Thanks  Apart from too hot people say the same about Norwich - too isolated and backward, but like Perth I say great and that is partly why we will probably come back in future. Insulated from other UK problems! Your not missing much at Carrrow Rd - although a tense relegation battle |

Why should anyone "justify" Perth to you? If you don't like it - fine fair enough - everyone is entitled to an opinion.
It just seems strange you want someone to either validate your opinion or to argue with you. |

Firstly, if you want to quote percentages, it'd be a good idea to actually do some counting to back your figures up. But in any event, even if "99%" of the postings are from those returning from Oz, that in no way translates to the assumption that 99% of Brits choose Oz. Perhaps there are other reasons why those returning from other destinations don't post so much. Did you not learn some basic logic? Secondly, and skipping over the vague and indeterminate "a good proportion", of course a significant number of returnees are from Perth. It's a major destination for emigrant Brits, so assuming that there's any sort of reasonably even distribution of returnees amongst the major population centres of Australia, Perth must have a significant share. Did you not learn basic extrapolation and statistics? Finally, there are many reasons for returning, so your further extrapolation that the numbers returning from Perth must be doing so because it's hell on earth is false, since you posit no causal relationship. Did you not learn any basic reasoning? Of course, my post here is merely in fun: I just like taking apart ill-constructed arguments :) And naturally, you won't feel in the slightest bit defensive; after all, I'm just having a laugh :) No troll-feeding here...
