Permanent and Long Term arrivals MAT Sept 2002
http://www.stats.govt.nz/domino/exte...2?OpenDocument
There were 95,400 PLT arrivals in the year ended September 2002, up 20,700 or 28 percent on the September 2001 year. In contrast, there were 18,100 or 24 percent fewer PLT departures (58,300) in 2002. The overall result was a net migration gain of 37,100, compared with a net outflow of 1,700 in the previous year. The main contributors to this turnaround in net migration were non-New Zealand citizen arrivals (up 17,200), and New Zealand citizen departures (down 17,600).
There were net inflows from China (14,600), India (6,500), the United Kingdom (5,900), South Africa (3,100), Japan (2,300), Fiji (2,200) and Korea (2,000) in the year ended September 2002. Conversely, there was a net outflow to Australia of 12,800, less than one-half the net outflow of 28,400 in the September 2001 year.

Hey Don,
So what is 'PLT'? And also, I've never seen any real figures on American migration to New Zealand - you're so good at looking these things up, do you know what the recent numbers have been in terms of number of USA citizens migrating to NZ? I'm almost afraid to hear the answer, I know the numbers are low - so if NZIS checks this site out for a laugh at their lunch break, I rather stand out like a sore thumb don't I?!
How's the house sale going by the way?
Cheers!

House sale - not yet. PLT = Permanent and Long Term. You can download USA to NZ stats here: http://www.stats.govt.nz/domino/exte...f?OpenDocument (tried to copy table here but didn't work). For short, there were 2588 PLT arrivals from USA in 2001 and 3207 in 2002 (year to Sept).
