Default Passport renewal

Hi,
I have just been alocated a co for my 136 application and have noticed that mine and my sons passports have just under 2 years left to run on them.
I e mailed my Co and asked if she would like for me to renew them. After 1 week with no reply I decided to send them off and get them renewed anyway. Today I got an email syaing that I would not be required to get them renewed.
Too late as they are already on there way to passport office so what do I do when I get them back?
can I just e mail scanned certified copies to my CO? Will this slow things up do you think or will theyjust be happy with this?
Thanks

Yes, send certified copies off to CO together with a completed form 1022. It won't slow things down.

When we did it, we sent it by courier to make sure it got there. But that was two years ago. Now it seems that certain information can be faxed/emailed. Therefore, I would email the scanned certified copies. Only if the CO emails back to say that's not good enough, would I then send them by courier.
