Default Parents and Grand Parents

Hi All

We already have our 136 visa and are looking to relocate later this year. Our Parents and Grand Parents have now decided that they would like to come with us and stay in oz. So my question is how hard would this be to get sorted and what sort of time scale????? Any ideas

Thanks

Pat

Hi

If your the only relative in Oz then I beelive you have to have been here for at least 2 yrs before they could apply with you being their sponsor. Unless thye are filthy rich and ca pay their way in. Saying that the contributory visa for parents/ grandparents still requires a substanitial financial contribution of Approx £17K (think this has gone up recently). Do a search of Contributory parents visa. It takes about 18 mths ish I think after the application has gone in.

Cheers

That is not part of the criteria for a parent visa. You may be thinking of the remaining relative visa but a child cannot sponsor a parent as a remaining relative.

You should make sure that you like it here and will want to stay before your family uproots their whole lives to follow you

My Mum was applying for a Contributary Parent Visa and part of the criteria was to fulfill the 'Balance of family test'......meaning that half or more of your immediate family must reside in Australia.

Half of more children.

Or more children in Australia than any other country.

Where other family members are is irrelevant.

Theres 3 of us my sister lives in UK and one in Cyprus and we are trying to find out if we could take my father back with us, he has a good pension and his own house, what do you think his options could be.

Any help would be gratefully received.
