is it a pain in the arse to take your car from uk to oz ?? whats involved ??

Default is it a pain in the arse to take your car from uk to oz ?? whats involved ??

my husband is a motor trader here so knows the ins and outs of the uk stuff but not oz....we bought our last fairlane in an auction just out of sydney and took it with us north....btu we were considering taking a nice merc or delica with us.....what would the costs be if anyone has done it....we wanted to stick it in our container with our household goods !

Don't bring it. The costs will add up to you buying the car again. Loads of tax of assorted kinds, then the car has to be converted to meet Ozzy standards..... Unless its a collectable old car or something leave it behind.

I was quoted £3500 to stick it in our container along with our gear (we have new BMW 330d sport) but the import tax\luxury tax etc on top of this made it a bad idea as buzzy bee said makes it almost like buying the car again.

We're not taking ours..

I think insurance might also be more expensive because its an UK car but not sure.

IMHO, not worth the hassel.
You must have owned the car for at least 12months. You can not get any one to give you a value on it (well we couldn't) until it got to oz, so we couldn't work out all the taxes that it would have cost
