MM, Have you noticed that the very LAST person that gets believed, is the one who actually knows what they are talking about! You'd think people would be glad there was someone one here in the shipping industry, but as you say, some people would rather believe in fairies, than in some who's been doing it for years! (and someone who gave me good advice this time last year! I believed you, why don't they!!!):D

Hi guys
Not even anywhere near the packing stage but just got me thinking - what if you have not got a forwarding address? We are planning to find a house when we arrive??? Also -can you take an extra suitcase and pay the excess (so many things that we will need and not sure we can wait for them to follow)
I know I'm probably worry far too early - but need something to occupy my mind!
Cheers Nibblo

was looking into the extra suitcase issue myself. it pays to shop around but some airlines will allow you extra baggage allowance if you explain that you are emmigrating when booking the flight. Others state that depending upon the weight of backage already on board they may or may not charge you.

Malaysian airlines looked to be one of the best.

Yeah make sure it is cleaned out, nothing pisses AQIS off more than a full vacuum cleaner. they are likely to go trough your whole load. .......:D  MM

Thanks MM,

We had planned to give it a good clean out anyway, i dont know how we could clean the hose out properly, but i suppose i can give it a go with the likes of a broom shaft and a cloth or something like that.

Thanks for you help and advice it is very welcome.

All the best, Mark.

I can't believe that I cannot take them!! Wot is a girl supposed to do? I cannot re-stuff them because they are hand-made one of a kind teddies.

I will have to sell them on ebay or something.

A very unhappy Mandy:( :(
why dont you post them through royal mail and just be ecconomical with the truth on the customs label, pack them up and say they are t shirts or something, a birthday present or a gift.
worth a try?

Still might result in destruction - Customs have the right to open any incoming or outgoing mail of which they are suspicious, and where they don't think the contents feels like the label. I've had 2 parcels opened and resealed so far on entry from the UK - one cos it said "Food!" (Thorntons chocolates, fortunately in a sealed bag!) and one cos my sister wrote "Papers" on the envelope, then my niece put in a bracelet for me - I guess it didn't feel flat enough!

I have posted another threadon this, but can any of you tell me if you packed your own things who you used to ship it out and how much it cost you? Do you save much by doing your own packing? Any help would be much appreciated.

Can i enlighten you P5 , Aqis are front line , they have dogs {that can smell a single bud of WEED} in a suit case. Once you become a target , they call in CUSTOMS , and in this country, and as in the USA, they are all powerful. ,,,,,,,,,,,,, is that try worth your visa,??......:D  MM
