They don't like straw, so if Teddy is stuffed with it I suggest you find a lovely new home for him - wouldn't want him to fall victim to AQIS :scared:

Nooo! Can't get rid of them!! Both made from Mohair with excelsior filling - one even has lavender in with it. They are not old bears but both are limited edition.

Will I be able to put them in hand luggage and take them that way if they cannot go with shippers.

Mandy:(

Larissa May 22nd 2004 10:40 pm

Sounds dodgy :( any chance of re-stuffing them? (Ducks to take cover from the don't-be-cruel-to-teddies brigade (Pollyanna!))

Aqis have sniffer dogs at the airport, which can detect vegitative materials, if they find the teddys ,they will be stuffed in more ways than one:rolleyes: ..............:D  MM

MM is right - if you try to smuggle them in they'll be destroyed.:scared:
I'd follow Larissa's suggestion and see if they can be re-stuffed - maybe a teddy hospital or somewhere? Failing that, its new home time.....I had a beloved old one filled with straw, which is now very treasured by my sister's children who look after it carefully because it was mine!!! No need to duck Larissa, I'd rather see a teddy re-stuffed than nabbed by AQIS:scared:

Oh god,

I can't believe that I cannot take them!! Wot is a girl supposed to do? I cannot re-stuff them because they are hand-made one of a kind teddies.

I will have to sell them on ebay or something.

A very unhappy Mandy:( :(

Is there not someone you can give them to, to 'look after' for you - sounds nicer than selling them if you're that attached :)

Pollyana May 23rd 2004 8:40 am

You can't sell them!! Poor little teddies! Surely you have a friend with a nice place for them to live in, and you could send them postcards or something.

(I know, I know, 6.45 am and I'm already writing gibberish! No hope is there!)

Good God woman, you're keen just being on here that early... never mind the gibberish :p :D

I need a quick touch of fun before being shut in that hellhole of an office all day! Quick expats-fix will keep my spirits up for a few hours!

Awwh poor you, I must admit with the weather being a bit nicer here at the moment and a bit cooler over in Brisbane I'm not feeling 'quite' as jealous as I normally do :) Was even worse being in the office over there during the summer... used to tan just walking up the street to the sandwich shop ;)

One little piece of advice: Don't get rid of too much stuff to get the weight down. I sold stuff & gave heaps of stuff away to charity shops & friends because I was on a tight budget and desperate to get back to my fiance, regret it now though. Bigtime.:(

As I say, AQIS were singularly unhelpful. My interpretation of their long-winded but uninformative comments is that it *might* get fumigated but then again it might not. Well of all the horrible things they threaten to do to wooden items, I suppose fumigation is least likely to hurt a guitar. I certainly hope so, I'm not leaving mine behind!

Had you seen this thread? Last post especially, with quote from AQIS, not sure if it's better than the answer you got though.
