AQIS WILL open any box containing decorations. Anything they destroy or have to treat will cost you lots of dosh:scared: Pot Pourri, all that kind of thing, get rid of t. If you have any really old teddies - check out their stuffing. Lots of old ones were filled with straw, so find them new parents in the UK rather than risk destruction...... My Boots stuff was fine - large box of Natural Collection goodies. I did notice though that all the boxes which said "Toiletries" had been checked by AQIS! Better get cracking Crown Relocations are coming a 9.30am tomorrow...:scared: |
Our order just turned up (told us it would come yesterday  ), now our front room is full of huge unmade boxes... we're up to our eyes in tiling, painting, holding- everything-together-with-squirty-foam jobs :scared: Note to self - do not buy a fixer-uper in Aus :p

The vacuum bags are the ones in which you can place things such as duvets, pillows, big jumpers, then they get all the air sucked oout of them. This reduces the space that they take in the container, thus hopefully costing less, or allowing you to take more!!!:) |
Originally posted by MarkMyWords Um, what about egg-timers? (Do contain sand, but are sealed.) And duvets? (Aren't toys, but do contain cotton, not waste exactly but what does "waste" mean in this context and why should it make a difference?) Questions for AQIS perhaps, but when I asked them about acoustic guitars they were singularly unhelpful. Mark |
Help! I've just started wrapping up and packing my first box of breakables etc. and was wondering how much detail to put on the box.
I've taken a detailed list for myself... On the box do I list each item (e.g. enamel wall hanging, cut glass bowl bla bla bla),or write general stuff like "ornaments, picture frames"? Can someone please do a mock of what to put on the box for me? (Pretty please with a cherry on the top) :D |

Have pointed out wooden stuff like boxes labelled Wooden Toys and also shoes that need to be checked Good luck with it all, at least starting now, you can chill out and enjoy your time left here:) Teresa |
Thanks Theresa
Have made a good start on the packing, lots to do though! hubby is just finishing off the bathroom tiling, as I type. We're bloomin knackered after a fortnight of house renovations and it still isn't finished! :scared: Larissa |
Just remember, most removal company boxes, are designed ,to fit tightly in a container, 5 teachest size boxes, fit the width of the container,so as to prevent the sides of the boxes from bulging. We get self packed containers in, with the boxes having burst there sides, because they have not been loaded properly, its no fun sweeping a bone china dinner set out of the box, most GOOD removal companies will sell you the proper packing materials..................;) MM

Just thought, I have some teddy bears that have the old style of filling in them. Will I be able to take them?
If not may just have to put them in hand luggage. Mandy |
