Hi
I have tried reading various threads but need a little advice please. I am trying to sor out my 2005/2006 tax return in Australia, I know I am a little slow to do so and bear in mind we only lived here for part of the tax year.
We moved here in Nov 2005, worked from Jan 2006, had private health insurance from Jan 2006. Bought braces for teeth($2500), spent a fortune on medical appointments as kids were sick. Had interest earning in UK from the house sale (paid UK tax on interest). Worked in Uk prior to coming here and paid uk tax on income. Do not have investments properties. Spent some money on teaching resources and used my car for work travel (2000k), plus paid teaching organisation fees, bought a computer for work etc. We are both in a pension/retirement fund here and in UK. Kids both in catholic schools. Rented a property for the whole duration. Can't think of anything else???
Questions -
Should I attemp my tax return myself?
Can you recommend a good webiste to help?
Should I be wary of anything (not suggesting I hide anything but hints might help)?
Should I have already done this tax return, am I too late?
Thanks for your help.

I just did my 2005/2006 return. Called up the ATO (check the phone book) they sent out the forms - with very easy to understand guides. I completed and sent them back. 2 weeks later refund was in my bank account and 3 days later have received statement of assessment.
Part year returns may provide a refund - assess it yourself first using the ATO website - www.ATO.GOV.AU
Good luck - they are a very helpful and friendly bunch at the tax office.
