Quick question - Is the Oz Cv called a 'RESUME' and if so does it have the same layout as a typical british one??

Also
www.seek.com.au
will help you format one, and that gives you an idea of what the Aussies like.

I'm interviewing today at my work. Two people, the job is for well over $100k, so you'd think their CV (sorry, resume) would be up to a certain standard. Guy number one has a 8 page resume, lots of details for all his jobs etc. Guy number two's is just 3 pages long, detail for the past couple of jobs, then just a chronological list for pre 1994. Reading them both, guy number two is my favourite because his was an easier read! I guess the interview will tell though.
I could send you the resume format they have if you liked, I'd just have to take off the personal details as thats obviously confidential. Or, as Polly has suggested look at seek.com.au theirs are probably jsut as good and more 'official'.
Having said all that, I got my job with a 2 page CV no worries

It's CV or resume, both are used.
Generally, HR will expect your CV (my preference) to be no longer than 4 pages long with the most recent experience at the beginning and, as mlbonner mentioned, chronoligical listings for outdated or irrelevant information followed by studies and qualifications. We sometimes request copies of qualifications at interviews, depending on the position.
Good luck
