Last time I did the trip I had my meds, my daughters meds, Ibuprofen, paracetemol and passed through Brunei and Dubai with no issues, no one asked me anything or threw me in prison. Coming back I got a migraine as we came into Dubai, finished off the pain killers I had with me, once on the plane again heading for Brunei the world and his wife, as well as cabin crew all offered me illegal painkillers

That's so funny...like a scene from 'Ab. Fab.'

Yes MP it depends on the moon here to what might happen - this is meant in a light hearted way - a few months ago a elderly canadian was arrested for some meds that he had needed can't recall the reason - he was here a month in jail - also the poppy seed thing is correct - it was an army guy coming back from afganaistan.
But the thing is you can but lots of drugs over the counter here without prescription - weird world.
Rosscov - have you sorted your trip out here - do you need any advice,
the malls are good and impressive, beach may be a bit hot now, dubai museum is cheap, burj kalifa is expensive (prebook tickets cheaper)but pretty cool - we did this last weekend ourselves. Taxis are cheap - but don't be afraid to tell them slow down

They'll even throw you in jail for having poppy seeds from a bread roll stuck on your jumper, seriously.
Is it the same if passing through Hong Kong??
