OMG! They are really cheap. That's half what I am paying in the UK. I know where I'll be getting my lenses from, although I have monthly lenses and I've somehow managed to accumulate 3 spare pairs...

do you have any idea of your spectacle or contact lens prescription?

just looked on my lens cases..and its got numbers on, not sure if they are the prescription but it says : +5.00 -1.75x80
as i said only one lens is prescription, other lens says: +6.00

lol TWT....did u see that I couldnt even spell ophthalmologist correctly! That'll teach me.

(Opticians and ophthalmologists are different - the former are very skilled technicians - for want of a better word - and the latter are medical doctors who can operate on eyes.)

I had laser treatment for my short sightedness and astigmatism with Optimax. Now have fantastic eyesight which I completely take for granted.

Just had another thought.

What about solutions? Are they included or do you have to buy them seperate?

I was assessed for laser surgery but my corneas are too thick. Our daughter had it done over 5 years ago now and has 20/20 vision with no problems. She says it was the best money she ever spent. She had stigmatism which runs in the family and had worn glasses since that age of four.

You do have to buy that separately but because I very rarely take mine out one bottle will last me ages (months!)

Hi I have to agree with the others who have said getting laser surgery for their eyes is the best thing they've ever done. I got mine done in Glasgow in Jan 2003 and I have never regretted it. It is completely life changing. I actually got them done so I could go snorkelling and scuba diving without the worry of losing lenses and it was great.
If you are suitable for the op, go for it, brilliant how much freedom it gives you.

anyhow, i wear glasses and lens, toric cos something wrong with my shape of eye..as well as blind as a bat.

Just wondering what the set up is in aus for contact lens wearers. I normally go to specsavers and pay a monthly fee to get new lens every three months.

Are opticians expensive? Are they easliy accessible. Dont know why im asking this as I will be living over 3 hours outside of Adelaide!

Maybe I should try for laser treatment. :scared: Anybody had it done and can recommend someone in England.

thanks...i know lots of questions.

regards

lolly
Hi Lolly, i also wear contact lenses and have found the disposable ones here in Melbourne quite cheap, about a dollar a pair if you buy them in sets of 30. I used to use Specsavers in Boro which worked out at about £1 a pair, so defo cheaper here than Boro.
