It all depends on the time of year you plan to travel, but would estimate between £475 and £700.

ebookers seem to have excellent one-way flights, got quotes for august similar to rockhopper, for a family of 2 adults and 3 kids it was £2,300.

When we booked to Oz we looked at one-way flights but found that the cost of a return was not much more. So we purchased open returns on the basis that if we needed to get back quick (We have elderly family in the UK) we could just go without having to pay the earth or waste time looking for a cheap flight.

Try Flight Centre Direct, should be in the yellow pages, have used them for flights to and from the UK the last few years and they have been consistently cheaper than anyone else and will spend the time checking all available routes and fares.

Crikey, all the threads are about flights today!

Anyway (again, just in case you've not seen the reply elsewhere), we paid 575 GBP each (two adults), or thereabouts, for one way flights to Sydney. We flew in February and booked the tickets before Christmas. Oh, and the flights were with Air New Zealand and booked with Trailfinders.
