Everyone's circumstances are different I know, but I just wish I went through this process 10 years ago! Cheers Karl i am forty, quite good looking, full head of hair, full set of teeth.. like ballroom dancing and cosy nights in.. old aston pensioner |

Thanks for all the replies. Scariest thing for me is the fact that, once committed, failure is not an option. After sale of house, and costs in getting out to Australia, we'll be left with £60k if we want to buy a house. Any prolonged period without work is going to eat into that. Worst case would be skulking back to UK with little or no savings left, and no chance of buying property again in the UK.
If that sounds depressing - I do like to worry about the worst possible outcome. It's a bonus when it doesn't happen :) Karl not skulking back either, going in with all guns blazing! got no house, little money, would i do it again. who knows..ive got nearly two years left on visa. |
Re: Old gits thread

Kim,
I feel for you. It will be so hard to leave them but you have to do what is right for you. We will miss our boy (he's 27) but we hope he'll visit when he can and we'll be back every year if we can swing it with our jobs (not that we've got anything lined up at the moment !). With the internet and all that you can stay in touch easily. I wish you and your OH the best in your new adventure. Deb Kim |

We're both 49. Been in Rockingham for 2 months. We came over on state sponsored business visa. I feel as if I've retired as I haven't got a job yet but we love it here.

Perhaps we can have an old gits meet up - I'm 44 and hubby is 50 and I do feel like a bit of an old fogey at work but these young uns are v sweet.
Also us ancients seem to take to the 9 p.m. QLD bedtime regime so much easier... |
