I like it. Could be a good subject for a Thread. |

OH is already in Oz and could have been there sooner if I hadn't dragged my feet as sons grown up and don't want to come with us!! I think if you have the skills and a decent amount of work left in you Oz will gladly take you. Kim Me and my OH are 46 and are headed over in November. My son also doesn't want to come with us, so it's going to be a bit of a heart breaker when we have to say goodbye. Are your boys staying in the UK then? Debs |

Hi,
I'm 47 and my husband is 46. Not finding jobs is also my biggest worry - that prospective employers will just think we're too old. We have the visa, "just" got to sell the house now and then we'll find out what Perth employers think of us. Gina |

Also hoping that not being interested in sport will help - I'm not likely to pull a sickie when there's a Test match on ;) Karl |
Re: Old gits thread
I'm in Perth. Employment here is not an issue if you have a skill, regardless of age. If you get the chance of going for your dream, just go for it.

We are both nearly 45.
I am heading to Perth next week for interviews/meetings to try and secure a job via the ENS route. I have made what feels like millions of fruitless early-morning phone calls to potential Aus employers, none of whom were interested ...... UNTIL I decided to travel there and be available for interviews in person. It's made all the difference and now plenty are interested and keen to meet/interview me in person. I now have some potentially good interviews/meetings lined up, with very good salaries on offer, too. Fingers crossed ! |

Well 53 and feeling younger than the o/h, she is 37. We have two boys aged 8 and 11 and will be landing in Brizzy about June. Can't wait for the new lifestyle looking foward to a new challenge while all my friends from school are sitting in slippers smoking their pipes. You are only an "old git" when you act like one! It will be so hard to leave them but you have to do what is right for you. We will miss our boy (he's 27) but we hope he'll visit when he can and we'll be back every year if we can swing it with our jobs (not that we've got anything lined up at the moment !). With the internet and all that you can stay in touch easily. I wish you and your OH the best in your new adventure. Deb |
