Admin Officers/Receptionists up to about $20 an hour, more for temping. Can anyone give average wages for a qualified electrician, upto test and inspections qualification. I am a childminder and would like to carry on doing this when i arrive, having problems trying to find out info on what is required in Aus, any idea? Also any advise on where to look for jobs before we arrive - planning to move to just outside Sydney Cheers |

Some good news:D:D for those unaware of changes for migrants from India
South Africa Sri Lanka the Philippines the United Kingdom who are over seas, is they have now changed the assessing authority which will now recognise your qualification on paper as an “Offshore Record of Technical Skills”. Full details can be found at http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...entservice.htm .This is still restrictrictive to those without paper I agree and it doesn't help people like me who are australian residents with overseas qualification but it is a step forwards. I will post similar on another thread so others are aware as soon aspossable for there own application. I am trying to cantact the head of the state training authority NSW to clarify the "black hole" :eek:that is and will update further. Eamon |

As a contactor it would be much more, but you need more licences, and they need renewing yearly. Look in the electricians forum for a lot more info on sparkies and what is required here. http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=97 Childminding, from home do you mean? If so, then see these links: http://www.familydaycare.com.au/ http://www.childcarensw.com.au/ccnsw/ |
Re: the official jobs/wages thread...
Hi
Moving to Gold Coast (around Benowa area) in June. Can anyone please tell me what sort of wages a hairdresser can earn (fully qualified with barbering experience)? Also, as a last resort, would consider legal secretary work again as did this before hairdressing. What sort of wage would this be please? Thanks very much. PS My OH will be studying bakery/hospitality management at TAFE. Does anyone know what sort of wage this would attract as a student? Thanks again. xx |

For those IT Procurement/purchasing Managers (Sydney)
When I left Sydney in 2005 I was a IT Supplier & Contracts Manager for a Telco earning $95K plus bonus of approx $8K. The role was a mix of a Procurement/Sourcing Manager in the UK (14 months in that role). Before that I was IT Procurement Manager for a Denfence company looking after 14+ offices across Australia and was earning $90K plus bonus of approx $2K (14 months in that role) Before that was Asia Pac IT Procurement Manager for a global bank, money was $75 plus bonus ranging from $10K - $20K (6 years in that role - could of gotten a big bump if I wanted when I got my new job offer but wanted a change) Obviously this was a few years ago...but will give you an idea. |

Robert Can't tell you for Melbourne but in Tassie we'll take anyone with C# on some very ground-breaking projects. $$ might not be as high but still pretty good. My husband is a recruitment consultant specialising in IT and engineering in Tassie and I am sure would be happy to give you some advice! Cheers, Natty |
Re: the official jobs/wages thread...
Hi all,
Just a quick one-nearly 3 years in and all going great down in sunny Tassie!! My hubby is a recruitment consultant who specialises in IT and Engineering recruitment. He is currently recruiting for some large projects in both areas which pay above average salaries compared to Tassie usual pay. All roles are NATIONALLY benchmarked and paid accordingly. One client is 457 registered and would look at sponsorship as well as helping with Regional Visas (with DED backing). Relocation assistance is the norm. If anyone is thinking of coming to Tassie/in the process I am sure he'd be happy to give advice/point you in the right direction if needed. He has helped a couple of people out on this website before so feel free to drop him an email at [email protected] (they are Tassies largest locally owned and operated consultancy)!! He can also help with partners finding work too as they do all sorts of recruitment. Cheers, Natty |
