We fly to Perth on 4th Dec. We have friends there to stay with initially but we are going to find somewhere to rent as soon as possible. There's me and my husband Mark and our 8 year old Bradly (good Australian name!!)
I'm leaving my 2 older children behind - my daughters 23 and has just started a PHd and my son is 19 and has a girlfriend so doesn't want to come yet, although he was included in our application and so we are hoping he will follow.
We are hoping to settle in Carramar, my husband fancies living by the golf course.
We visited 3 years ago and went to Perth, Adelaide and Canberra and we preferred Perth. Canberra came a close second but it hasn't got a beach. We have relatives in all three places so hope to visit them all again.
We also have friends who are emigrating on Nov 1st and my cousin who flies out on Dec 30th - our own little community!!

Just a quick post in defence of Poms in Perth. I am in the process of getting my permanent residence visa and would like to thank all those using and maintaining Poms in Perth for the terrific job they are doing for all us wannabee ozzies.
They are providing a valuable link for all those making the move to Perth and I think that is great. It is a very daunting time, giving up everything to move your family to the other side of the world and making a few contacts before you go, getting valuable answers to confusing issues and sharing opinions and ideas (much as you do on this site-I may add) helps a great deal to remove some of the worries and when we are on the other side if we meet a few of these people to socialise with to start us off remodelling our lives and to offer a helping hand, what's wrong with that?????
They are not 'clicky' at all and I dont think they 'stick out' (except for the car but that's just advertising-surely you can see that!). I met up with them last year on a 'recky' trip to Perth and attended the very first social gathering, and I have NEVER met such a great group of people in my life! I am truely grateful to them for sharing their experiences with me and offering us support and reassurance.
So please dont knock them, they are great!
To Nige and the gang-THANK YOU!

But I read somewhere that kids as young as 10 years old can be easily found in the park sniffing glue.
And kids drinks at very young age. Any comment on this? Is it true?

No matter what anyone says, including me, Perth is a fantastic place, it might be the arse hole of the planet, but its a nice one.

Also, age isn't mentioned, and I'm quite sure that photo is just a random pic, not even Perth.
Karrawarra was saying Perth is a fantastic place, but didn't say it was perfect (I know for a fact he doesn't think it's perfect
)No big city is perfect, and that includes Perth!

What are you looking for in Oz? Where are you coming from?
How old are your kids?

over here and although have found our feet fairly quickly it is still a massive move to make, we have been very fortunate in finding work etc but for some people I've spoken to its been very hard trying to earn a crust so I take my hat off to anyone who comes here and starts a business.Scary:scared:
