Sally, imagine if you had to sit the IELTS now? How would you feel, after going through all the hoops you had to jump, not only to get to Oz but also to practice as a nurse. Would you not feel a little miffed? We are only venting out of exasperation and stress..

Carn't remember if you had to sit the IELTS ?

No I didn't but I would accept it as part of the process, just as it is for Aussie nurses going to the UK.
Compared to an awful lot of other professions/trades, nurses have it easy when going through the visa & registration process.

If anyone is in Sydney and is interested, there is a NSW Nursing and Health Expo on today – Sunday 16th May at the Sydney Showground.
