Hi, been away for a while, have come back & noticed that there hasn't been much action on this thread in the past couple of weeks, so what about if I mention the meet up on some other forums to get a bit more interest, after all - the more the merrier! What do you think?

Yes, we plan to settle in Perth, don't know where yet as we have done little research on suburbs With the line of work I'm in there are only a few areas that I could work from. I was thinking of picking a work area, then try to work out 1/2 hours commute from that area & any suburbs in that circle would be research material. I think my better half(missus!) would find work anywhere, being a hairdresser.

What about you Karl, where are you thinking of settling?

Also regarding meet, I have put a couple of threads on other sites so hopefully we will get some more good people joining up with us "The more the merrier" as they say.


What do you think about name badges with your name and a little aussie flag on or something? I've heard about this & it really seems to break the ice & get everyone chatting! Wouldn't it be great if the weather was like the last few days!

Probably south of the Swan River. Eldest wants to be a vet, so we'd like to be within 10km of Murdoch Uni, which i think is about 10km south of the river. We'll probably be looking at suburbs with a median price (currently) of $300k ish, so that'll probably put us a further 10km south of Murdoch and out towards Rockingham etc. Chances are I'd have a one hour commute. No doubt we'll end up somewhere completely different!

As far as identification is concerned - well, i've got a "No Worries" T shirt, and i'm sure we've got a stuffed koala we could bring along! As soon as the first few people have arrived, i'm sure the group will look pretty obvious )

How long do these meet ups normally go on for?? We are away that weekend but coming home to MK on the sunday, thought we could pop along when we get back if people are still going to be there.

My husband is going along the Engineering technologist route and thought we may be able to pick up some good advice before we send off our assessment to IEAust.

Good question. First time we'll have been to one! I'm guessing a couple of hours at the very least. I'm sure not everyone will be there for 2pm, so i guess there'll still be people around at 6pm.

"Send off assessment." Do you mean assessment of qualifications, or a CDR?

We have had the qualifications approved by Engineers Council UK on the Sydney Accord - we now need to send off the application for the assessment.

Let me shed some light on the 'How long do the meets last ?? thingy' !! Most of the meets i have been to normally start 2-3pm and can go on anywhere from 6pm till midnite if you've booked a hotel room at the same venue , which some of us ' Oz meeters' have done but that was all Jane Middletons fault for being such a great lady and organiser

But Jane and her lovely family have now left the country
As have Sara and Graham ( Gravyman )

What a shame i'm goona miss them loads.

anyways we'll all get there eventually

All i can say is lets make it a great meet have fun and a few
in the sun fingers crossed !
