Hi. I know there have been a few Northampton meets in the past year or so - are any more being planned?

Hi Karl,

I have organized a few now and they have always been very successful, lots of people and lots of .
I am now however due to move out of my house next friday so I don't think I am going to get a chance to do anymore :(
Why don't you do one.... there has always been a big response !!!
Good Luck

Re: Northampton

It's an idea. Did you go to any of the other Northampton meets? I didn't. Guess Saturdays are best for most people. My eldest daughter works 8 till 3 on a Sat, and we normally have to pick her up. Funnily enough, she really likes Milton Keynes (closest thing to Perth round these parts), and as we live in east northants, MK could be a good alternative venue.

Otherwise - previous N'pton venue (Billing Mill) is pretty easy to get to. Have to see who's interested!!

No unfortunately didn't go to any of them as we were still in the process of gathering all our TRA evidence & didn't think we'd fit into the scene! Sounds stupid I know :o

But now we have positive TRA we are starting to feel a part of it all now :)

We love MK & will probably miss it when we go.

Billing Mill? Is that near Billing Aquadrome?

Are you a member of 'Poms In Perth' Karl? If you are willing to organise it I could post a message on there just to put a feeler out & see who's interested?

Let us know either way :)

Chris.

Hi

We'd be interested in a meet. We live near Kettering so Northampton area would be great. Saturday or a Sunday would be fine. We are going to Brissy as soon as we've sold the house.

Hi,

We are in Milton Keynes and would be interested in a meet up around MK/Northampton area.

We're in the very early stages of our visa and would be really interested in talking to others about their experiences.

Cheers,
Kay

We'd be interested in a Northampton meet. We're just starting the TRA process (BF is a chippie) and we're hoping to move to Oz in about 18 months, so would love to meet up with others who are making the move. Billing Mill would be great - we're from near Wellingborough. :)

Hi again!

OK, how does late June or early July sound (after my daughter's GCSEs!)?

Jayne & Russ (if you're there) - did you normally contact Billing Mill before a meet up, or were the numbers not a problem?

Cheers

Re: Northampton

Another question is - any preferences for Saturday or Sunday?

Sunday is probably best for my family as my eldest usually works on a Saturday.

Karl

We would prefer a Sunday as I wouldn't need to get a day off then, but we will ultimately go with the majority.

Looks like there is a bit of interest which is really encouraging.

Cheers, Chris & Sharon.

HI Karl,
Good luck with the meet..... Looks as though you will have a good few people there
Billing Mill was a good location, however the play area inside cost £1 every half hour !!!!!!! we contacted them before a meet up and they said it was too busy to save us a corner
So we changed the venue to Crossroads at Weedon as they have a room at the back which we used... If the weather is good then Biling Mill is a fab Venue. They have a play area outside too...... We had our first meet there and the weather was lovely so it was a great meet.
We move out of our house on Friday and shippers are coming on Thursday :scared:
Good Luck I will be keeping an eye to see how it goes ;)
There are a few photos in the Gallery too

Sounds good for us! 2 Adults + 2 Kids(7 & 11)

I wouldn't worry too much about a map, anyone not familiar with the area should just type Billing Mill post code(NN3 9EX) into here: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ or use this link direct to the <Billing Mill Map> :D

Cheers, Chris & Sharon :)

Thanks everyone. OK, that's us, Mandi and The Effys as definate. Little Koala - unlikely, unless you get enough karma for there to be no roadworks or traffic on the way back from Cornwall! Or was that someone else? Sorry if it was, server at work is too slow today for me to check the posts again!

MJELNC - we won't be able to make Hinckley, hopefully you can make Northampton?

KayC - next time hopefully!

Any more?

PS: The Effys. Think you said you're in the very earliest stages of visa application. Doesn't matter - so are we! Hope to send application off in about a month's time, although i've been posting dumb questions in here for over a year...

Hi Kay

We're in Miltyon Keynes too.
We start our TRA assessment in 3 weeks. Us includes me, hubby and 21 month old little boy oh and another on it's way.
My hubby is a fitter/maintenance engineer so we have our full points.
What's your circumstances?

Karl & Ann May 25th 2006 10:23 pm

Re: Northampton

I'm 44 and a highways engineer (Programme Manager for Atkins in Northants). Ann is 40 and a veterinary receptionist. I've had a positive skills assessment for Civil Engineer, which is on the MODL.

Me being so ancient, it's now or never! biggest dilemma is our daughters. Eldest is 16 and just taking GCSEs. Youngest is nearly 14 and two years behind.

Eldest wants to be a vet, so chances are that we'd go on a visa validation trip (if successful!) next year, and wait until A Levels/GCSEs are out the way in two years time before moving out to Perth permanently.

I wish we'd gone on holiday there about ten years ago instead of two. Your kids will be at a good age - no messing about with their education, and they'll grow up as Australians!

Cheers
Karl

Hi Karl,

Yes, we plan to settle in Perth, don't know where yet as we have done little research on suburbs :( With the line of work I'm in there are only a few areas that I could work from. I was thinking of picking a work area, then try to work out 1/2 hours commute from that area & any suburbs in that circle would be research material. I think my better half(missus!) would find work anywhere, being a hairdresser.

What about you Karl, where are you thinking of settling?

Also regarding meet, I have put a couple of threads on other sites so hopefully we will get some more good people joining up with us http://www.discodelic.netfirms.com/other-family.gif "The more the merrier" as they say.

What do you think about name badges with your name and a little aussie flag on or something? I've heard about this & it really seems to break the ice & get everyone chatting! Wouldn't it be great if the weather was like the last few days! http://www.discodelic.netfirms.com/other-sun.gif

Cheers,

Chris http://www.discodelic.netfirms.com/other-tiphat.gif

Probably south of the Swan River. Eldest wants to be a vet, so we'd like to be within 10km of Murdoch Uni, which i think is about 10km south of the river. We'll probably be looking at suburbs with a median price (currently) of $300k ish, so that'll probably put us a further 10km south of Murdoch and out towards Rockingham etc. Chances are I'd have a one hour commute. No doubt we'll end up somewhere completely different!

As far as identification is concerned - well, i've got a "No Worries" T shirt, and i'm sure we've got a stuffed koala we could bring along! As soon as the first few people have arrived, i'm sure the group will look pretty obvious :o)

Cheers
Karl
PS: I notice you're almost as temporally challenged as me (I'm 44). Hopefully, this is not all complete madness ;o)
