Default Noisy House (false) Alarms

The alarm on a house (townhouses) behind me here in Woolloongabba has been blaring since a helicopter flew over it on the way to the Mater. I don't mind the helicopters they're for sick people, and I love the area as we have a lovely old workers cottage and I can walk with my son to southbank .. even though the area is a bit noisy overall.

anywhoo.. am i within my rights to lob a brick, molotov cocktail, dead bush turkey at said house.. it's driving me barmy???

I would go out, but i'm swatting for an interview tomorrow

Can you not ring the alarm company (they usually have a sign somewhere on the building) and tell them to shut it off? Alternately call the police and tell them that there's been a burglary at the house behind you and the alarm is going off.

Sensible options.. thankyou.
I am however swatting and so procrastination is in order.

I might go and buy a new suit instead, any recommendations for suits in Brissy?
Can't believe it's been a year and half since i had a proper job.. the luxury.. buggered if i can remember what i used to do!

Cool, alarm has gone orf.. 1hour 45minutes later.. BritishExpats to the rescue, who'd have thought just talking about problems would help get them sorted.
Now.. the suit... anybody ?

I've found the best way to get reasonably priced satisfactory quality suits in Brisbane is to fly back ot the UK and get them at Marks. Would love to hear of a more convenient alternative.

BTW not kidding - last trip back to the UK I bought three suits!

Friends of mine go to Thailand to have suits and shirts custom made. They fly over, get measured up, choose fabrics then bugger off to Bali for their vacation for a couple of weeks then pop back to Bangkok to pick up their new togs before coming home. They go every year and have all their dental work done and buy all their Rx glasses over there.

Hi Craig the helicopter probably set of a glass break sensor, so rest assured it will go off again. As your in queensland i can give you no procedures however here is what I would do.

The audible (siren) of an alarm should rarely sound for more than 10 minutes, trust me burglars are long gone in under 5 minutes.

I would simply drop in your local Woolloongabba Civic centre and ask the question. How long is a alarm allowed sound for. Once they give you the answer you can go to your neighbour ask them to have it fixed. Plus offer to have a quick look at their property if the alarm goes off. Hopefully they offer the same to check yours.

If they are nasty about it report them to the council.

The police in general in victoria do not respond to alarms that are not re-confirmed by a monitoring centre.

If you take the time to install an alarm you should take the time to throw your neighbour a slab every year to have a quick look at your house if it sounds.

Best of luck
