I love the way the vested interest people try to butter up the suckers by alluding to "wise folk", the "smart money", etc.

If only we had a crystal ball! Prob' is, economically, no one has a clue what's going to happen, not even the economists who do it for a living so really everyone's opinion is just as valid as the next. However one thing that most people agree on is to not take on any big debt regardless of low interest rates as they won't be low for long and you're average mortgage is 25 yrs. My opinion is to just sit back and watch the show, give it 6 months or so.What you got to lose as prices certainly wont be shooting up any time soon.

Oh how I love Australian "news" stories.
We're watching the market closely and, although there may be some people taking advantage of the $21000 grant for buying a brand new home, we haven't seen any signs of the rest of the market picking up. Prices in general are falling.

Interesting snippet in The Australian today saying that the FHB grant is storing up problems for the future. A bit late but at least they've printed it.

Also in The West today, Rob Druitt says that North Beach house prices have gone up 45% this year. A real estate agent in North beach in the same article is quoted as saying that they have actually gone down 20%.
Go figure.

Ok, here is a very interesting thread:
http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=757629

Yesterday quality newspaper, the Australian runs an article “Mum ready to go shopping for second home”

The article reports :

THE memory of her mortgage rate rocketing above 9 per cent last year is not enough to scare Kirsten Friedli away from the property game.

Following the Reserve Bank’s decision yesterday to drop the cash rate 100 basis points to a 45-year-low of 3.25 per cent, Ms Friedli is ready to go shopping for her second home.

With $220,000 left to pay off a $350,000 home loan, Ms Friedli, 35, and her partner Matthew, 40, plan to take on another mortgage to buy an investment property.

Cool, so this Mum from Port Kembla thinks it is never a better time to buy property. But hang on, doesn’t Real Estate Agents think it is never a better time to buy? Umm.

What does a google search yield us? Umm, she has a facebook profile.

Looks like Kirsten is from Wollongong - that’s next to Port Kembla. Hey, she works for Dougmal Real Estate as Marketing Manager. She even features predominately in Owning a Dougmal Franchise.

and for anyone who is interested, here is the original article in yesterday's Australian:

The media in this country is an absolute fkin joke.

Couldn't see the overclockers discussion but this is good work. If what you say is true The Australian should sack the article's author.
