Hi Steve and Claire
Welcome to Mountain Creek (Little Britain!).
We (Me, Hubby and 2 kids (girl 13 & boy 9) have been here just over two years now. Wish we'd known about British Expats when we first got here as we didnt actually meet anyone for ages and the kids were really lonely.
Where abouts in MC are you? PM if you like, maybe we could get together for a or two!

Yes my son goes to the primary school and my daughter goes to the high school. We specifically moved to Mtn Creek so they could go to the schools.
Both schools are massive, the primary has 1200 pupils, but unlike British schools that tend to be one main building/playground/playing field, the school is spread out over a large area with all the different age groups in their own area so i doesn't seem too big or scary!! My son loves it there, but was very bored the first year as he'd done all the work in the UK already.
The high school has over 2000 pupils but they do a split shift system, and also have four sub schools (so its like having four small schools, each with its own staff so they get to know the kids and vice versa). Years 8 & 9 start at 10.35 and finish at 4.05 and years 10,11 & 12 start at 7.35 and finish at 1.05. It works really well, as the older pupils have the use of the specialist equipment in the morning before the younger ones arrive and then they get to use it in the afternoon when they've gone. It also gives the older pupils time to go to TAFE/work/surf! in the afternoon. Again, although its massive with loads of pupils, it doesn't feel too big. My daughter loves it there and says its far better than the senior school she went to in the UK.
I have heard some horror stories though, maybe I've just been very lucky with my kids friends/teachers, I really dont know, all I can tell you is my experience of both schools which has been good.
Hope this helps! I'm sure you'll get lots of different advice/opinions from different people - at the end of the day, you know whats best for your child - we found that choosing a school was a bit like buying a house - some schools 'felt right' and some didnt!
Good Luck
