I'm interested why it's a no go. The adult stores in NZ are still very much down an alley type... not in the high st like AS.
Such a pity.... definitely a market for it in Aus and NZ i would have though
what reasons did they give?

Hi jandjuk!
Ann Summers are a rapidly growing company and are expanding into Euope as we speak, but simply haven't got as far as the Pacific rim ( Pardon the pun
) yet. As a business, they don't run as a franchise at any point normally but i thought i'd be cheeky and ask anyway. There is HUGE potential for this kind of thing in OZ and NZ - I have been doing my research (!), but it isn't without it's problems.Best wishes, leigh.

An Aussie friend invited me to a 'Tupperware' party last night.
There were all these ladies sitting around and admiring a blanet and quilt that some lady had made herself!!!!! My friend introduced me and told them that my mum use to sell Tupperware back in the UK (1970's) and that the Uk have stopped selling it now. There was a moment of silence as they all looked at me in surprise
" How do you live without your Tupperware?!!" one woman said!!!!
"NO!!! How awful!" said another
I tried to act calm and pretend I was in some kind of nightmare and that I would soon be waking up!!! I listened in a kind of haze as a plastic item that was "ideal for keeping your homemade butter in" was passed around!
:scared: :scared: :scared:
Help me!!!!!:scared:

Got a fit of the giggles reading this thread.
A few weeks ago I did a ruthless clearing of attic and basement...just in case we decided to emigrate to Queensland (we're not.)
Anyway, some of the ancient artifacts that I uncovered were those darling little Tupperware thingy's.
My gawd, what WAS I thinking of... filing those little plastic compartments with pickles and 'crisps' and nuts. haha.
I didn't think Tupperware parties were still going strong, last I heard of them heard of them was in the seventies, thought they had gone out with my beehive hairdo.
When we lived in N.Z. I also felt like I was living in the twilight zone...neighbours would invite me over to 'canning parties'.
They'd can tomatoes, and peaches etc., and here was me thinking this stuff came outta tins. Thanks for the laugh.
Keelie.

Hmm instead of making fun of people using layby, maybe you should just be thankful that you have enough money that you are not forced to do the same. Not everyone qualifies for a credit card, you have to realise that there are a lot of pensioners and others out there doing it hard. Sure $20 might not be much to you and me, after all we probably pay more than that for internet access every month, but for some it is a lot of money.

Paying it off bit by bit you hardly notice it. Unlike a huge credit card debt which always seems to creep up.
It's especially good for kids toys making christmas relatively painless, financially.

I agree, layby is a good idea. You don't get into debt by just sticking it on the card.

If you miss AnnSummers (as I am sure we all threw out those battery operated things in case they got opened by customs!) you can always have a nose on adultshop.com (or so I have been told -honest) you can see what they have to offer and things have certainly changed since my days...
ps on the layby thing Idone it as these houses over here don't have much storage so if you buy bikes etcc for xmas just don't pay em off totally till xmas eve and they store em for you.
(rainchecka are if they have a special offer and have ran out you cannot order one at the cheap price)
god 14 months here and I know my stuff!! (even went to a candle party last week! & my daughters best friends mom is an enjo rep - any specials and I will let you all know - can always bring them along on the night out!!

What a scream, do you remember 'Rosie" on here she got invited to a quilting party or something no wonder she went back
Over here the 'mums' have candle parties, now I could comment on that but I wont.
Craft parties quite popular too.
It is hilarious when you realise these women are in their 20,s and 30's.

Yes I've had invites for Candle Parties, Enjo Parties, Body Shop - what's going on? This type of thing is totally out of fashion now in the UK, I find it hilarious!
