My 'Tupperware' Nightmare!!!!!!!
 

An Aussie friend invited me to a 'Tupperware' party last night.

There were all these ladies sitting around and admiring a blanet and quilt that some lady had made herself!!!!! My friend introduced me and told them that my mum use to sell Tupperware back in the UK (1970's) and that the Uk have stopped selling it now. There was a moment of silence as they all looked at me in surprise

" How do you live without your Tupperware?!!" one woman said!!!!

"NO!!! How awful!" said another

I tried to act calm and pretend I was in some kind of nightmare and that I would soon be waking up!!! I listened in a kind of haze as a plastic item that was "ideal for keeping your homemade butter in" was passed around!

Well Jane as I have now turned into an earth mother and am whipping up cheesecakes and growing my own "herbs" all I can say is:

I WANT THAT DISH FOR HOMEMADE BUTTER!!!!

Actually Tupperware is alive and kicking in the UK. I went to a party a few years ago - no mention of home made butter though.

It sound like you have moved to a happening place :-)

What a scream, do you remember 'Rosie" on here she got invited to a quilting party or something no wonder she went back:D

Over here the 'mums' have candle parties, now I could comment on that but I wont.

Craft parties quite popular too.

It is hilarious when you realise these women are in their 20,s and 30's.

I'am sure it was on the news (!) before I left the UK, saying they were knocking it on the head due to poor sales???

Sounds almost as bad as a bbq conversation I was trying not to be part of. They were singing the praises of Enjo. Please, no-one ever let me go to an Enjo party. At least Tupperware involves food, cleaning is dire and should not be discussed.

When women start talking about cleaning products you just have to go join the blokes' corner.

Look I went to an ENJO bloody cleaning party the other month.

I know it's all environmentally friendly n' all that but for gawds sake it's bad enough having to fork out $35 for a bloody wooly mitt without having to sit through the agonising demonstrations and the rep trying to bully you into a cleaning party or being an agent yourself!!!!

Jane I hope you bought some tupperware - might be worth a packet if you go back to Uk!!!

Funnily enough my rellies went all "crafty" when moving here.. dried flowers n' stuff.

Jane - I was going to post on exactly the same thing after coming back from a Tupperware party this morning!!!! I didn't really know how to start my post off, you summed it up well!

Yes I've had invites for Candle Parties, Enjo Parties, Body Shop - what's going on? This type of thing is totally out of fashion now in the UK, I find it hilarious!

PS. RE: Enjo - I've got the orange mitt, good for dusting. Didn't fancy the pink one for your body - urgh!

I've got the white one for bathrooms n' stuff! I can't bloody well get the hang of it, the cleaning fluic comes out every time. Bet it'll work just as good for dusting, I'll try it this weekend..

What about LAYBY, I cant believe that either.

LAYBY. Available at discount stores, take your 20buck item and put down a deposit then pay it off over 8 weeks. Dont these people have credit cards??
