NB and Vim are right - its good they are operating - they think there is a good hope of cure. I am just feeling very helpless a long way away. I just hope the morning brings good news. Thank you everyone - it so hard sometimes when everyone here is asleep and your mind is left to wander. I am going to try and sleep now and fingers crossed for good news tomorrow.

My husband is worried about his Dad but there is nothing he can do and we can't afford for him to go back. All is good right now and that is the best it can be. Easy enough for me to say try not to worry but being stressed isn't going to alleviate the situation for your Dad. Think positive until you are given cause to think otherwise. As I said earlier, the NB family thoughts are with you.

Fingers crossed all goes well for him. As the others have said, it is a good sign that they are operating!
Hang in there and have some {{{hugs}}}!

Stay positive Safin, put it out there, and the universe will provide.
My Dad underwent a quadruple heart bypass in September 2009 and I was sat in a motel room in Bourke of all places at 2am waiting for the call to say he had come through surgery okay - he was 2 and half hours longer than expected and the wait was agonising.
The tyranny of distance is strange thing at times like this. I'm sure the surgery will go just fine and he'll have a new lease of life waiting for him afterwards.
