Hello,
A few months ago I posted a question on how to apply for permanent residency in Australia from the US and you guys helped me so much. So I thought I would ask you all if any of you know what is the safest but yet cheapest and easiest way of sending belongings, clothes, books, cds, dvds, etc to Australia? We have been sending boxes over but each one has been costing us about $100 and we still have more to send. We've looked at some sea containers but we're not too sure about them and they cost a lot too! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Contact overseas moving companies. Probably you will have to send your belongings via container over water. Yes, it is expensive, but if you have large items it is the way to go. Ours from Ontario Canada to Adelaide (20' 3/4 full) cost just over $10k Canadian, so about $9k US.

May I ask how much stuff did you have in your container? We're going from NJ to Tasmania. We don't plan on taking a lot of things. Like I said before a lot of boxes and if it's cheap enough or worth it my son's nursery set (crib, dresser, etc). Thanks.

Did it include insurance? We are moving from Aruba (Dutch Caribbean) to Perth hopefully late next year. But I need to start budgetting for something like this.....

I know that you are not an insruance expert, but can I ask a question about the coverage. You quoted 1.9 % - was this for damage or total loss only ? Any idea?
