Default moving state

hi,i'm currently in the UK at the moment but plan on returning to australia sometime soon.
i shipped my car back to the UK and plan to take it back with me
i will obviously have to re register car and i would presume, get new licence plates,i still have the old ones {didn't realise i had to return them} i was charged about $200 them.
i know each state may differ,i was originally in western australia but plan to move to queensland, what i'm looking for is cost of moving state with vehicle.
would i also be right in thinking that i will have to get a queenland licence or will my western australian licence do?
any help much appreciated....

If you still have a valid WA licence you can use that in Queensland - but legally you should get a Qld licence immediately and they can get very shirty if they find out you're living in one state and using documentation (licence, car rego) from another.

If you shipped your car from Australia then it presumably has an Australian Design Rules compliance plate: you will need to get it examined for a Roadworthy certificate before you register it in Qld.

hi,thanks for the prompt reply,as you say it's probably better to register in queensland, save any hassle.
