First of all I'd advise you to talk to your vet. We wanted to take our dogs with us, have researched all the pros and cons and decided to do it and got all very excited. Then spoke to our vet and she confirmed there's really no interests for our dogs to come with us, in fact it would be a bad idea for our two dogs. Thinking about it, and this takes a lot to admit because this has really upset me, it is the best interests of the dog and neither of them like the sun, they're both prone to illness and they don't like travelling. i know, you'd think this would be an obvious decision then wouldn't it?! only it really has been difficult and we were both gutted when we realised it wouldn't be possible for them to come with us.

So my advice would be, speak to your vet first of all. Then if the vet gives you the OK, you need to keep your dog up to date on all jabs and boosters until you go, there are some really good pet transfer companies in the UK/Oz and many of them have been referenced on here. We were going to use golden arrow, i think that's their name.

Best of luck.

They don't need rabies jabs to go to Australia. If you come back they will need rabies shots to avoid six months of UK quarantine.

Not true at all. In the UK your dog will be given a lepto shot as part of jabs. This can cause the blood test and final permit to import to fail. It's vital that you speak to a vet and export company to start coordinating your dogs export as far ahead as you can.

Try www.airpets.com who handles our dogs move. We found them to be brilliant. Do remember that many more people with dogs move them as well that don't, as can be attested over the years on this forum.

And those dogs settle very well indeed here.

We are having our 2 dogs sent over, they leave the Uk this wed, and will stay a month in qaranteen in Syndey. As we are already over here, we left them with our parents to sort out all the stuff!. They had to have blood tests and other injections, also we had to have frontline for any fleas!. It was fairly straight forward to arrange. Found a fab family company who arranged all this for us, called Golden Arrow Shippers, based in Shropshire they have been really good. The overall cost is roughly £5000, but they are worth every penny! So we should have them home with us end of May. We are a bit worried about the long flight, but Golden Arrows ( steve ) has said that they will prob sleep through a lot of the it, our girls are only 18 months old, so hopefully they will be ok. Good luck! ( if you need the phone number just yell)
