moving interstate SW WA to Umina, NSW
Hi, been a while since I visited the site!
We've been in SW WA for almost 7 years now and love it, but feeling the pull to live near Sydney.
Just wondered if anyone else has moved interstate? Was it hugely expensive? What tips can you share?
Also, we're looking at Umina Beach, so would love to hear from anyone living there as to how you find it - we have two young children and love the quiet life!
Thanks

Beautiful beach, great skatepark & kids playground, big 4 caravan park is popular, real fish & chips at patonga 10 mins away, award winning pie shop, we went to the best Indian we've found at ettalong on sat night called the grand pavilion.
You can catch the palm beach ferry from ettalong which is next suburb.
We don't live there but visit a lot & Liz used to work in florists & enjoyed it apart from methadone clinic next door, seem to be a lot of feral kids on skatepark but son Max never had any problems with them, lots of nice places around .
Hope you enjoy it

Umina used to be a 'hicky' holiday town with a nice beach but basic amenities, however recently it has had a lot of investment and is going through a change for the better.
The 'CBD' has had a facelift and a lot of the weekender style fibro cottages are being kncoked down and replaced with modern homes. It also has a great indian restaurant on the main street. ( Copper pot )
The commute to Sydney is about 1.5hrs by road and/or train, the nearest station being at Woy Woy, with an average of 3 services per hour. Also there is a ferry service from nearby Ettalong to to Palm Beach on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
If you are looking for somthing a bit nearer to Sydney, but still affordable maybe look at Berowra, Cowan or Mount Colah area.
