Default Moving Interstate - Cost?

Question for anyone who has moved Interstate - Can you give me an idea of how much a removal company charges? We'd be packing everything ourselves, also any recommendations for removal companies?

Thanks in advance.

Currently in process of moving from Melbourne to Perth. Received 3 quotes ($1950; $2040; $2200) Packing ourselves and have 2 BR apartment. I reckon by the time it gets there plus some extra packing of TV and lamp, extra boxes it will be extra $100 or so...

Good luck with the move!

Moved from Adelaide to Brisbane. Was given $5,000 in expenses which I struggled to keep within, but just about managed, though REALLY economised. I should have had at least $8,000 to do it comfortably. There were two of us, myself and my daughter, and we stayed in basic accomodation and put the dog in kennels local to where we stayed if we couldn't get somewhere to take him - kennels were really cheap.

We paid for our own trailer, but got removalists to fill it. Arranged shipping and got a removalist to collect it at this end and empty it. Was well work paying them, there was no way on earth we would have got everything in a 20 foot container if we had packed it. The guys we used were friends of a friend but I know Wridgeways provide this sort of service.

We drove up and stayed over for 3 nights on the way. Found 6 hours driving as much as you want to do in a day. We got held up by a day by the floods but otherwise okay.
