Default Moving to Adelaide

HI,
I am planning to move in Adelaide in Q4-2014. I have two young kids 6 & 4 yrs old. Need to know the good residential area, school & job market for IT Networks..
I have VE/176 (SA) visa & have to stay there for next two years.

Thanks,

Depends on your personal preferences. Adelaide consists of the central area (CBD) which is surrounded by parklands: the main residential suburbs start outside the parklands and the closer in to the CBD you are the older and more expensive the suburbs are. Generally the suburbs to the south (Mitcham, Plympton, Marion, Edwardstown to name a few) are less industrialised/commercialised than their eqivalents to the north (Croydon Park, Woodville, Kilburn). Suburbs to the east and south-east (Magill, Stoneyfell, Burnside) are getting into the foothills and are pricey, suburbs actually in the hills (Belair, Blackwood, Hawthornedene) are less costly. North eastern foothills (Tea Tree Gully, Golden Grove) are newer developments of estate housing. Northern suburbs such as Salisbury and Elizabeth are heavily reliant on the Holden factory which is closing in 2016/7, so those areas are likely to become depressed (even now they have a significantly higher percentage of residents on welfare than other areas).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the very informative reply. But which suburb has good schools (i mean having best results & good for extra curricular activities)?
Also it would be great if you can give some IT job market info as well.

Many Thanks

As you have a youngster also, I would be looking at OSHC provision, Vacation Care and links to kindergarten as well.

Good luck

I have two daughters living in Adelaide: one lives in Hawthornedene in the Adelaide Hills and sends her 3 sons (9 & 7) to Hawthornedene Primary and the other lives in Mitchell Park and her son and daughter (6 & 8) go to Edwardstown Primary. Both are very happy with the way their children are being taught.
