Re: motorbikes in oz

I got my bike licence transfered too, had to take 5 extra questions on written test. I later got a refund from dept transport and an apoligy saying i did not need to take the written test

Being a complete newbie to bikes, I have just booked my CBT Equivalent in SA - Cost $300. The program is state wide and called Rider Safe. You pay for it through the registration and licensing department then book it via one of the providers.

The program has two sections:

Level One - Basic Training ($300) - 2 x 4Hrs & Practical Assessments
Level Two - Advanced Training ($270) - 1 x Hr & Practical Assessment

You have to take the level two within nine months of passing level one or gain an extension to your level one to retain your bike license. If you don't book level two or gain an extension within nine months you have to take level one again :S

Hope this is helpful to any other newbies.

PS: My UK driving License was converted directly to an SA driving license without any test whatsoever. Nice ;) $40 for the year ($265 for ten years)
