Re: motorbikes in oz
OH passed his bike licence in Melbourne 9 years ago, and was restricted to 250cc for two years or so. Don't know if it has changed since then.

Do uk bike licences convert start to Aussie ones ? Got both car and bike, and just wondering about small bike for commuting if the traffic looks bad. (queenlands)

Really? I thought Q-Ride was compulsory for all new arrivals, if wanting to ride a bike?

Re: motorbikes in oz
My UK bike license was transferred straight to my Oz one.. in NSW.
Had had license for 15 months and am 33 yrs old. have a full unrestricted license for Oz. Things vary from state to state so best to check the relevant RTA website. However in NSW I believe the license system process is: Carry out the equivalent of a CBT which will get you an "L" plate. Within 3 months you need to then take a test to get your "P" plates, after you have had your "P" plates for a year you go unrestricted. When on "P" and "L" you are limited to bikes with a low power rating, the list is on the RTA website. There are ways to become unrestricted quicker depending on age etc hth Alex |
