I was reading one of the threads last night ref applying for a mortgage. It had said that if you are self-employed (ABN) you have to wait two years to apply for a mortgage. I rang my bank ANZ this morning and they said that this is the case. Can anyone help I cant possibly wait this long til we get our own house.

why not? with the current non-existant growth, you are financially better off paying the difference between rent and a home-loan into a high-interest savings account and using that money as a deposit.

I know you need to have been self employed for 2 years befroe being granted loans but try speaking to the AustasiaGroup they are a family ran group of financial advisors. Depending on the capital you have to put in the property and how long you have been here they may be able to suggest something. We were looked after by a great guy called simon. basically low documentation ! tell em wot u earn and they`ll give you a mortgage(nice deposit helps) not sure but i think your interest rate may be a little higher on a low doc my boss just done it and got 7.25

Lo Doc Loan, 35% deposit with RAMS, no questions asked, just apply for an ABN and your sorted.
