Mortgage with first stage spouse visa

Mortgage with first stage spouse visa
Hi All,
My fiancee is Australian and brought me back to Oz with her after a few years of being in London. I'm here as a de-facto spouse and am currently on the temporary bit of the spouse visa until sometime next year.
Has anybody here had experience of applying for a mortgage while still a temporary resident on this type of visa? Do lenders walk away laughing as it's not (yet) a permanent visa?
Also, if anybody has a recommendation for a mortgage broker in/around Adelaide it'd be welcome.
Cheers
Steve

No, I was a 457 , which moved to a permie Spouse Visa and we had a mortgage well before I had any PR, no questions asked.
Although that was in 2003 before the credit crunch...........

Hi
I got a mortgage with CBA while on the fiancee visa (can't remember what its called now but its the stage before your current visa). My other half was a student at the time so they only considered my income - but we did have a large deposit.
A mortgage broker, Mortgage Choice arranged it for us.
Good Luck!

Having spoken to a couple of Mortgage Brokers, Bank SA (St George Bank) will lend to first stage spouse visa holders according to their normal lending criteria (i.e. as much as they think you can afford. In our case >90% LVR).
Hope this helps somebody in the same boat.

Hi,
I'M a PR and my hubby is on a temporary spouse visa.
We have bought two properies since we came to Aus: first loan was in my name only and the second in both names, LVR > 80%. Loan is with ANZ.
Hope this helps.

Me n Matt applied for our first mortgage 6 months after getting here. (I'm a PR, Matt was in 1st stage temp spouse). We got a 95 % mortgage, through a broker (aussie) with no problems I can remember.
Good luck!

Hi, we were offered a mortgage in principle from westpac, I'm a aussie citizen, husband applying for spouse, although at the time of agreement had'nt applied, westpac said no problems, they were more concerned with proving income.
We are still based uk, However have good deposit.
Hope this helps
