we're currently wondering,how to go about exchanging our Money from pounds to dollars,anyone got any experiences with money brokers or are the banks a better/safer option?

I have used Moneycorp and XE trade.
Both are very good. XE is great for small amounts under GBP 5K, Moneycorp are more flexible then XE but they are only interested in larger FX deals
Open accounts with both, as the accounts are free and the brokers don't pester you at all.
