Default Mo Mowlem & Robin Cook

It seems that Labour has lost two of its "stars", albeit stars that were not appreciated by their own leadership. Mo was a very popular woman respected by both sides of the house and Cook's speech against the Iraq invasion was a masterpiece. A sad week indeed.

Yeh.These people were absolutely passionate about their jobs and what they stood for....and for what?

When you see how eventually their passion was rewarded in terms of their career...and then to die young

I see this soooo many times.

Those less passionate, more smarmy i.e two faced Machiavellians....they go through life changing to suit the hot potato of today, ducking and diving and keeping in with the "right" people ....saying the right things [even if they say different behind closed doors].....they "seem" to tow the line and stay in the middle of the road......they do well

Happens all the time, even out of the public eye.

Ahhhh well. That's life eh

Yes very sad - two of the most interesting and 'decent' UK policians gone in the same week. Is it true that Blair didn't even bother to go to Cook's funeral?

No doubt the co-incidence of their deaths will get the conspiracy theorists going....

Anya.

Does anyone think it strange that senior labour figures who are supporters of Brown rather than Blair are dying. Robin Cook's death even sounds a bit like Barry in Eastenders. One for the conspiracy theorists.

It was more likely that Tony was receiving his two 'favours' from his new best friend George Dubbya.

I vaguely remember that she was put in charge of something and f'cked it up really quickly (although probably not as quickly as Estelle Morris). I think she resigned.

A
PS: Obviously not being bezzie mates, Tony didn't do much to defend her.
