Does anybody in Oz have any comments on this car, or advice of buying a car once there v buying it to collect at the airport?
We had a Rav4 and we have friends with a Pathfinder. Both proved too small for carrying all the camping gear. If you get a Pajero, Prado etc you won't regret it.

Really liked the Outlander, however found that there was not enough room in the back for all the camping stuff and didnt want the buy a trailer, so I went for the Pajero and dont regret it, loads of space and great for off road.

I would also wait till you get here to buy, I wont risk buying something like a car I had seen only over the net.

However the new Pathfinder has a lot more space in the back, but is a bit pricey.

Agreed. If we were buying in 2 or 3 years time when there were some of the new model available at lower prices they would be on the list too.

The Prado has less luggage space than the Pathfinder as the 3rd row seats fold to the side in the Prado, whereas they disappear into the floor in the Pathfinder.

There being only 3 of us we would have taken them out and put them in the garage but I take your point. Still the Pajero looks about as big is they come and we are very happy with ours.

We are looking at purchasing the Outlander for our move to Melbourne in April 2008. Would be interested in keeping in touch if you get any prices for them over in Oz. This is hubby's territory really but he is away for the next 6 weeks and therefore if anyone finds info on Outlanders in Oz it would be most helpful if I can passthis to him on his return. Working full time arranging the move and dealing with two kids is stressing me out enough never mind finding out about cars!!!!.

Anyway we have definitely decided on an Outlander (we have a Mitsi L200 at the moment and love it so reliable 6 years old never let us down so its Mitsi for us everytime)

Thank you to all that have replied to this post and provided some very useful info.

we are going to wait untill we get out to Oz before buying and will wait to look at a couple of options, though the Outlander is at the top of the list.

Thanks again

Mark

Just been to Brizzy to sort out loads of things for when we move on 4th of Feb. I had to sort out a company car and have gone for the Outlander XLS 7 Seater Option, managed to get a few extras on in for an 'on the road' price of $40K, I thought this was a pretty good deal. But then again im not paying for it the company is.

I thought it drives really well and still has a fair amount of storage in the back. Im sure we will have a good time in it ! !

Thanks so much for giving an idea of price for us.

I suppose even dealers are open to negotiation?

I told them I had a $40K budget and if they wanted the sale then they have to meet the price ! ! Simple as ! !

If they donr meet the price then I was getting a Rav4, well thats what I told them. But I do know they will come down if you are prepared to play hardball
