Hi, im working in the mining industry in Nsw Hunter Valley region. Im currently contracting at a local Bhp Billiton coal mine as an electrician.
To be honest all the mine jobs earning big money are taken by people who's dad works there or brother etc, etc. It's not what you know it's who you know!! Im slowly working my way in but there's a que as long as your arm of people who want a job so if your thinking of trying to get one my advice is to go inland i.e Mt Isa etc where they can't get people to go. But then it's 45c and humid, not nice conditions. Anyway good luck mate, from a former shopshire man.
