We flew with Emirates and got no extra migrant allowance, although I think we had 30kgs each. For 2 adults and a 6 months old baby. Plus pushchair, travel cot and car seat all went in the hold for free and was not inclusive of the allowance.

£30kgs isn't bad. Riverdink, you don't have to use the whole allowance but it is better than going over and having to pay excess.

i phoned singapore airlines this week and they told me i could have 40kg each as long as its an unvalidated visa and we show it at check in.

Ask again via email, and print off their confirmation email. Check in staff are notorious in denying all knowledge of larger baggage allowances. If you have a stopover in Singapore and have all your baggage with you, you will have to prove your allowance on your future check in as well. They sometimes enjoy not accepting the argument that you had it for the first leg.
