Hi

I have just searched for the same thing and there are a number of existing and useful threads in both this and the immigration forum. You might be making the same mistake I made, dont use the search tool in the main toolbar (for some reason that comes up with nothing), use the "search forum" (or some such wording), which is one of the forum headings at the top of the threads tables. I put in "luggage allowance" or " baggage allowance". I am a novice on this forum, so can't put in any snazzy links to them and my explanation might be a bit awry, but do try again.

I think Singapore Air take your first flight to Oz since you visa was issued as the one where you get the 40kg allowance. So if you do a validate trip that will be the one where you get the 40kg, well that's how I understand it. Fax copies of your Visa's to SIA along with your booking ref and they send you a letter confirming your increased allowance. When we checked in they checked our passports to make sure we hadn't been to Oz since our visa's were issued.
The other snippet I was told by the Manchester ground staff was that normally a passenger gets 20kg plus an additional discretionary 10kg, but if they bump you up to 40kg there is no discretionary 10kg. Saying that they still let us on with 100kg between two of us because we were going straight through to Brisbane and not doing a stopover. Probably because we had zero hand luggage.
Did you know you can pick you seats online on the SIA website.
Hope this helps

We're still renting in Manly West, and waiting for house prices to come down.

Hi
We flew with Cathy Pacific and we were allowed 40kg each (2ad and 2 ch), on our validation trip to Oz. It worked out that we had 11 cases. I checked with the airline before we flew, and we have flow Singapore before and they are good.
