Men's advice needed......

...or females, don't want to discriminate! However Mr L. is getting very excited about the prospect of buyin a BBQ. He's been doing some research, asking around at work etc but I thought I'd ask if anyone could give us their opinions. Brands/prices/things to take into consideration etc....recommendations and those to avoid. Right now, he's torn between a 4 burner with a side burner, or a 5 burner. He went into more specifics, but I must've tuned out, so I thought I'd ask other BBQ fans.

Thanks in advance! :)

him indoors got himself a 6 burner with side burner. Jackaroo is the make, got it in K Mart in May in the sale for about $250 usually around $350. Havent had loads of bbqs yet but certainly coped well enough for his 40th and about 30 people.

6 Burner with a side burner, covers most eventualities :)

That side burner is really useful, for everyday outdoor smelly cooking.

edit: Mines a Kmart Jackaroo too :D

As a Saffa I'm a purist when it comes to Braaiing (BBQing). Gas BBQs are for Aussies & Poms because they don't know how to BBQ properly & any monkey can cook with gas. Get a proper BBQ (Weber is a good make) that uses Wood or failing that, charcoal. The best BBQ is make from half an oil drum with some legs welded on & some steel mesh to put the meat on, but that might be a hassle to make.

Resist the gas, they are for Aussies.

We have bought one from Barbecues Galore as we needed lots of advice. They didn't try and get us to buy a more expensive one either which I thought was good. They also instructed us on what do do with it. Very pleased with their service.

Our 4 burner with side burner was $429 from BBQ Galore, not too bad I thought and the advice was invaluable. The salesgirl didn't even show us anything more expensive as we told her we were complete novices and wanted a starter BBQ.

This is great..thanks guys...he's reeling from the idea of a 6 burner and a side burner! Quite amusing actually....do ya think the fascination stems from the caveman hunter/gatherer/cremator days?!

3 legs, looks like someone ripped out there chimney/fireplace from the lounge and rebuuilt it in the garden!!

Mr. L reckons that cooking over charcoal is far superior than cooking with gas, however, he said he can't (quote) be arsed with the preparation required  --- I'll remember that quote next time I serve him a microwave meal instead of home cooked nosh!! :D

I agree with him, but gas is so much faster to get going :)
