Hi Robjem,

I have been through the getting my qualifications recognised malarky for Plumbing and did it at nights and on days off from work, I have had to first sit an interview at the PIC Victoria, this is situated in Docklands, from this interview I got registered in a few sections of the job and invited to sit exams and practical tests for all of the rest, I have not done any TAFE courses just studied the Australian regs and went straight for the tests and up to yet passed them all, I am in no hurry as I have been on the management side now for 20 years so just wanted to have my trade recognised, let me know when you get here and if I can I will point you in the right direction.

Also if you can send me your CV/Resume I am a Project manager at one of the big 4 in Australia, we have a few Pomme plumbers and they are well regarded so may be able to help that way too.

Oh BTW for what its worth and this is only my preference I do not like the west, suggest you get here and have a good look before you commit to wherever.

Good luck,

Rob.

I think the Western Suburbs are perfectly liveable if you're able to work that way too, but if you need to get to work in the CBD or East / Southern suburbs, as people have mentioned the West Gate bridge can be a nightmare, and also it only takes a car or lorry to break down in the Domain tunnel and this will very quickly have a knock on effect on the West Gate, never mind something breaking down on the West gate itself. Also I don't know if this is the case with a lot of the western suburb stations but Hoppers Crossing for instance has no residential places around it that I could see, so you have no choice but to drive to the station. That could just be a one off mind...
