Re: Melbourne Suburbs
I'm with ozzieeagle....
When we first arrived in Melbourne we ended up in Coburg. Outstanding and HUGE 3 bed, 2 bath rented house in a very quiet street for $450. The city was 25-40 mins by car in the morning, 20 mins on train. We've now bought in Brunswick East. Awesome house and reasonably priced for our location. It takes us 20 minutes by car into the city, 15 minutes when the schools are on holiday.
Plus you can spend more of the year relaxing around the Merri Creek, than you can at the Beach. If, for the three months of the year that it's really worthwhile, you desperately want a beach then Williamstown beach is very easy to get to from the north as well.
I was determined to live near the beach before we got here... I'm glad we didn't.
The inner north, and even the west (Footscray, Seddon, Yarraville) shouldn't be overlooked. Just because everyone else lives in the east, it doesn't mean you have to!
