Hi,
We moved to New Zealand over 5 years ago and feel a change coming on. We are seriously considering a move to Melbourne, but as we all know that can be a risk if you don't know specifically where a good place to live is. Can anyone tell me the names of some good suburbs for families with direct route to the CBD?
Also, what is Sunbury like?
Look forward to any responses

I think it may be becuase you have to have posted over 3 messages before you can access PM's.
I am sure that somebody can offer further advice if this is not correct.

Hi CoolKat.
I cant help too much on the Melbourne areas, because we have only been here 4 months, and we are about an hours drive from CBD, so probably further than what you guys are looking for.
If you let us know more details regarding what you are looking for. Close to the beach, or close to the hills, how far are you prepared to travel to work, and where do you expect to be working.
Its now nearly 9am here, so i'm sure there are a few locals waking up now, so they should be able to help.

Is there any where you would recommend good for families to live?

She was looking for a 30 min commute from CBD (see above) ...she'd have trouble doing that from those areas if there was minimal traffic in the week!!!
We have lived in Elsternwick for the past two years (easy drive into the city), or by train or tram (20 mins including stops) - also maybe consider South Melbourne, South Yarra, North Melbourne, Caulfield...all great areas.
If you want any info, then PM myself or shakmaty

You might also try Glen Iris, Mount Waverley, Glen Waverley.
We currently live in Malvern which is about 7km from CBD - travel time is about 15 min train or 30 min by tram. Car journey depends on route but is between 7 and 12 min rush hour.
The suburbs to the east provide more but cost more. The west is mainly new estates spread out like South Auckland.
Inner east like Elsternwick, Caufield, Glen Iris, Malvern is similar to Epsom and Newmarket/Parnell of Auckland.

Pretty much describes where I live in Rosanna.
Question to help immediately narrow things down for you though.
Based on your above criteria, will you be renting or buying ?
If buying, what is the limit of what you are prepared to pay ?

Maybe the OP could commute by helicopter or rocket
